About Us

Artistsatwork is an award-winning organisation, which specialises in creating innovative online cultural resources for children and young people.

Our interactive websites are designed to inspire creativity in the classroom and to provide children and young people with the opportunity to engage with art and artists no matter where they live in the UK.

Our Websites

Artisancam

www.artisancam.org.uk

ArtisanCam is a free website, which introduces children and their teachers to the world of contemporary art using a mixture of video and interactive activities.

Children can see artists working in their studios via specially recorded video clips or learn how to create their own artwork from a wide range of interactive workshops and games. Online activities include everything from designing and firing your own plate to sculpting a stone block, designing jewellery and learning how to mix colours.

Teachers can learn alongside their pupils with innovative step-by-step classroom workshops led by an artist or a virtual activity. Every term ArtisanCam features a new artist-in-residence, as well as exploring behind the scenes at large exhibitions.
Launched in Autumn 2004, ArtisanCam has twice been nominated for a BAFTA and a Webby and in 2007 won a prestigious BETT award.

ArtisanCam is delivered in partnership with CLEO (Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online).

Read and Review

www.artisancam.org.uk/readandreview

Read & Review is a new website which encourages children to read contemporary literature and share their book reviews with other young people across the country.

Teachers and their pupils can watch video book reviews by young people, as well as using the Book Chooser to find recommended titles they will want to read and authors that will excite them.

Read and Review was funded through The Forge’s Cultural Hub Durham programme, which aims to ensure that all young people have access to a full and
active cultural life.
